Biodegradable Bullets

The US Army has commissioned a new type of bullet that is not only biodegradable, but that will sprout seeds months after being shot. They are accepting submissions for biodegradable bullets through February 5th of 2017.

At least one company has tested such technology, “The US Army Corps of Engineers’ Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory has created and tested seeds for a biodegradable composite, engineering them to sprout months after being embedded in the ground, per Live Science.”

If you are interested in submitting a bid, you can find the details here.

The United State’s government has received scrutiny for using toxic uranium soaked bullets in Iraq and Afghanistan. A practice that has resulted in the birth defect of many people in the region.

These new bullets would be the first of their kind, and would not be used in actual combat scenarios.  Is the the United State’s Army trying to shift public opinion, or are they actually looking out for the greater good?

These bullets would be great for hunters and target practice in the woods – a great way to leave the word better than you found it! (Assuming non-invasive species are planted, of course!).

I would personally love to see them plant TREES! Grow a memorial orchard everywhere guns are fired!
