Healthy Popsicle Recipes Using Fresh Berries

Summertime.  It was my favorite part of my childhood.  I can still remember the mellow New England summers, the looming pines, and the slow days in the garden with my mom.  I used to love sitting on the lawn, eating freeze pops, while my mom would tend to the plants.

My mom had things figured out back then.  We had a simple, slow life. She was always crafting with us or we were spending time out in nature. I can still remember that feeling of being safe and nurtured, the simplicity of our routines and family rituals are something that I have been trying to incorporate into my own family.

The thing I am not trying to incorporate is the high fructose corn syrup or food dyes that those freeze pops contained!

This year we have been making our own freeze pops using fresh berries that we have been picking from the backyard. Wild blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries have been perfect to blend with water and sometimes herbs from the garden.

Here are some of my favorite combinations.  Not every child likes them, but mine does!

I don’t measure things often, so you will have to estimate.  I would put 1 part fruit to 1 part water, then add in some fresh herbs.
